Kwon Tae-Geon

Abstract
Bisphosphonates are widely prescribed for many patients with osteoporosis who can be a potential candidate for dental implant treatment. The prognosis of dental implant placed in patients covering bisphosphonates (BP) remained in controversial issue. Considering the time between implant placement and BP administration, various reports had shown that previous well functioning dental implant also can be developed to BRONJ after BP initiation. Therefore, potential risk of BRONJ need to be explained to patients before or after the dental implant installation if intravenous BP or long term oral BP administration is indicated.
